Description Benefits Supplemental Questions This position involves detailed work with inventories, employee property-files and financial accounts. Responsible for the standard receipt, issuance and disposal of all police supplies, uniforms and equipment. Maintains accountability of all equipment, supplies and uniforms. Reports to the Lead Property Technician Examples of Duties:ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Issues all department equipment and supplies based on established guidelines. Responsible for accountability of all property issued. Coordinates the repair and maintenance of property designated for necessary repairs. Prepares and submits for approval requisitions to stock replacements of supply room item. Stores, distributes and maintains control of various types of equipment. Responsible for maintaining accurate computer entries and maintenance of assigned property control numbers for the city computerized inventory program. Responsible for the physical inventory of all department furniture, serialized equipment, office equipment and vehicles. Documents transfers of property and equipment between various units. Maintains log of departmental purchase orders to ensure the accuracy of each order upon its arrival. Inspects quantity and quality of goods received for conformity to prescribed specifications. Goods are accepted or rejected based on condition and compliance to standard of equipment and supplies. Signs receipts for proper delivery of goods and payment of invoices and monitors delayed deliveries and discrepancies. Responsible for forwarding purchase orders and invoices for payment. Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned shift. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Prepares requisitions for supplies/equipment. * Maintains various forms. * Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High school graduate or GED. * Clerical, computer and organizational skills required. * Ability to work with people. MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: * Strong organization and analytical skills to keep accurate property control and accountability. * Ability to maintain detailed records. * Ability to compile and prepare statistical reports. * Communicate clearly and politely to assist others. * Ability to meet multiple deadlines. * Ability to change priorities and meet service demands. * Ability to generate computer reports and statistics. Supplemental Information:PHYSICAL COMPLETION OF EACH ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: * Approximately 50% of the job functions are performed while seated at a desk. The remaining amount of time would vary according to other daily job assignments. Manual dexterity is necessary for use of typewriter, computer, and processing shipments received. Communicates clearly to interact with individuals in person and on the phone. Flexibility to move, bend and stoop in order to perform inventory. Must be able to lift and carry twenty-five pounds of supplies and equipment from one location to another. Must be able to lift supplies and equipment and place them on shelves up to 7 feet in height. Visually monitors supply levels and takes inventory. Calculates invoice orders and manually completes forms for the request of additional supplies. Bends, stoop, kneels and uses step stool to reach and remove inventory, to stock shelves, to issue property and supplies to employees. Visually monitors and audits inventory forms for accuracy and completeness. Possess math ability to complete calculations and to maintain inventory supplies at all times. Maintains detailed records and compiles completed detailed reports. WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Has a separate office located on the main floor of the police building which is adjacent to the supply room. Surplus and stock items are maintained in the supply room which is a larger area. Accounting and clerical duties are performed in the adjacent smaller office. * The job functions are performed Monday through Friday, but at times require flexibility in work hours. There is no other employee assigned to do this job function. * Equipment used consists of a private desk, computer, printer, telephone, calculator, shared copier, fax machine, paper cutter and package scale. * Immediate supervisor is at the job site 75% of the time and available by phone 90% of the time. CUSTOMER SERVICE: * Communicates with other department employees, city employees and vendors on a regular basis in person and by phone.
