Interviews Family Planning, STD, to obtain general, sexual health history, including primary complaint, history of present illness, review of social history as to activities with sexual partners and past or pertinent illnesses including allergies and nutritional status .and records relevant information in medical record pertaining to reason for visit and history information. Performs vital signs, Blood Pressure, Temperature, pulse and weight Assures entries in medical record are accurate, legible and in timely sequence.

Performs limited laboratory tests. i.e. urinalysis, blood sugars, hemoglobin, HIV, hepatitis screen, RPR, rubella and pregnancy test. Performs venipuncture and obtains specimens in correct tubes. Performs and logs results of Quality Control Test on blood sugar tests, pregnancy tests and urinalysis tests as indicated. Performs HIV/AIDS pre and Post: test counseling.

Prepares client for examination assuring necessary supplies are available. Prepares exam room with equipment needed for special procedures, i.e. IUD insertions, colposcopy procedures, EMB, and assists ARNP with the procedures and/or examinations.

Assures proper handling of specimens received from ARNP including correct client identification on specimen and lab requisition, recording specimen in log record, sending specimen to correct lab. Prepares specimens for transfer to appropriate laboratories. Assures lab requisitions entered with correct codes and pertinent data in computer system. Assures lab results printed when results available. Prepares hazardous waste boxes for use and proper disposal.

Washes instruments, packages them as indicated and operates autoclave. Assures that items are properly stored after autoclaving and items date sensitive are reprocessed as indicated.

Assures all clinics areas are well:stocked with correct supplies at all times, storing supplies in proper areas. Reports low supplies to supervisor for outside orders.

Performs other related duties, such as working at a shelter at the time of disaster.
During an emergency the incumbent is responsible for monitoring and assisting in the evacuation of employees and clients to assigned areas listed in the Emergency Code Procedure Manual Evacuation Procedure Standard Operating Procedure. This includes directing co:workers and clients, checking rooms and assuring doors are closed as they exit. Maintains and improves knowledge and skills through attending staff meetings, seminars and Continuing Education programs related to position.

Must have at least 3: 6 months clinic experience. Must have experience with diverse populations. Must be proficient in phlebotomy.

Experience with Womens Health or STDs preferred. HIV 500/501 counseling certification preferred. P
roficiency in obtaining patients vital signs including Manual Blood Pressure preferred. Good communication skills preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Three to six months of experience in providing care in a public health, medical hospital, clinic, etc. preferred.
