This person will be willing to be mentored to learn to teach students on campus. No online courses. This is a full time permanent position with full benefits, dedicated to teaching the RN program at a small college in Central FL. Must be a FL licensed RN with a Master’s Degree to be qualified to teach the program. Some previous experience in staff development/ nurse education is highly desired! Job Summary The responsibilities of the Nursing Faculty are to develop a healthy and caring environment that offers a variety of opportunities for active participation by the students in the learning process. Major responsibilities of faculty include teaching, tutoring, and professional development. Responsibilities The following are the responsibilities of the Nursing Faculty, but are not limited to the following tasks; Teaching Ability to plan and prepare course content and curriculum; utilizing assessment and effective methodologies of instruction for the enhancement of learning. Maintains expertise in field of study and responsibilities and their performance reflects scholarship and evidence-based teaching in clinical practices. Assists in the development of the departmental course schedule. Assigns, guides, supervises, and evaluates student’s performance in giving care to selected patients/ residents. Completes instructor ATI training modules within specified time. Completes Proctor ATI exams. Performance reflects evidence (activities that enhance experience) of scholarship, evidence-based teaching and clinical practice as defined by the ACCN “Defining scholarship for the discipline of Nursing” available at -scholarship downloaded 10/20/16. Communication Maintains active participation in professional organizations as appropriate. Participates in enrollment management activities and sharing of professional expertise with colleagues and students beyond the classroom. Provides support and in some cases provide the leadership for student recruitment, marketing, and in general activities that “build” a program within the clinical setting. Supports student activities, including course and career guidance to students, mentors, graduations, and fosters a love of learning. Demonstrates procedures in nursing skills laboratory, supervise student demonstrations and evaluate student performances. Orientates students to the clinical site and communicates clinical objectives to the student and the staff. Writes anecdotal progress notes, and clinical evaluations of student performance. Acts as student advocate. Mandatory committee involvement of all faculty not limited to but including: student affairs, admissions selection, curriculum review, faculty advisory board, and evaluations and outcomes committees. Active membership/participate in professional associations. Administration Gives required forms and papers to Registrar’s Office within the specified timeframe. Maintains appropriate records of student performance. Integrates theory with planned clinical performance. Participates in selection of students as a member of the admissions committee as assigned or appointed. Ensures College compliance with regulatory boards including licensure and accreditation. Other duties as assigned. Licenses/Certifications : Must have an active Registered Nurses license (RN) OR eligible to be licensed in the state of Florida. Maintains Continuing Educations Hours as required in the active field or discipline. Requirements: · Must have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Must have a Master’s Degree. A Master’s in Nursing is preferred. Must have a minimum 3 years of clinical teaching and/or scheduling experience.
