Certifies clients for participation in the WIC Program in accordance with the policies of the State WIC Program and regulations stated in DHM 150:24. Provides nutrition education contacts to low risk, high, and medically high risk clients as defined by agency policies. Provides education and breastfeeding support using approved materials and format. Correctly documents nutrition assessment and care plans in FL Wise using SOAP or other approved format. Attends and participates in staff meetings and professional and staff development activities. Completes required state and WIC trainings.

Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited college or university. Must be licensed as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in Florida or another State or able to procure your license prior to hire. Must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Must have computer experience. Must have nutrition assessment, WIC certification, and nutrition counseling experience.

Incumbents may be required to perform emergency duty before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days.


Knowledge of the science and current practice of nutrition or dietetics. Knowledge of the concepts and theories of nutrition and dietetics as it relates to growth, development, health and disease. Knowledge of nutritional and dietary assessment techniques. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Ability to plan and conduct a nutrition program or project. Ability to analyze and interpret anthropometric, biochemical dietary and clinical data. Ability to use various counseling and educational styles. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to use a computer, fax machine, copier, printer.

The duties and responsibilities of this position involve nutrition assessment, counseling, and education for individuals and groups including professional staff and community.
